Connect Universal to the internet via a desktop PC USB connection

The phone can connect to a PC via a standard USB cable. To create the network interface:</p> <ul> <li><strong>On the Universal</strong> install titchy-network-settings: <table bgcolor="#000000" border="1"><tr><td border="0"><font color="#FFFF00"><b># aptitude update<br /> # aptitude install titchy-network-settings</b></td></tr></table></li> <li>Plug in the USB cable, connecting the Universal and the PC.</li> <li><strong>On the PC</strong> type: <table bgcolor="#000000" border="1"><tr><td border="0"><font color="#FFFF00"><b># ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.1<br /> # echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward<br /> # iptables -A FORWARD -j ACCEPT<br /> # iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 192.168.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE</b></td></tr></table> where usb0 is the USB network interface, and eth0 is the internet-connected interface.</li> <li><strong>On the Universal</strong>, type: <table bgcolor="#000000" border="1"><tr><td border="0"><font color="#FFFF00"><b># ifup usb0</b></td></tr></table></li> </ul>
